Decentralized technology – best practice installation guidance:
Installers should consider the best location for decentralized drives for the application, taking into account the
points below. If for there is a basis to use an alternative strategy to that suggested for specific applications then
that should be raised as a deviation request with Aurobay/VCPC.
It is generally recommended to mount those products close to the equipment being controlled. This is generally
more economical and can be technically advantageous, note points below:
-
Shorter cable runs reduce risks caused by; e.g. high cable capacitance, high leakage currents, EMC etc.
-
Reduced Cabling costs.
-
Reduced use of space for cabling/cable trays etc.
-
Easier to identify which controller relates to which application.
-
Majority of I/O (sensors) are routed via drives I/O – cabling is significantly reduced and easier to access if
the controllers are in closer proximity.
-
Enables more modular commissioning possibilities, when the equipment (eg. Conveyor) is installed as a
self-contained unit (ie. with its I/O and controller linked/associated).
-
Further detailed information can be found in the specific product manuals.
Hybrid pre-fabricated cables:
It is generally preferred practice to utilize pre-fabricated cables for connecting specific SEW equipment as are de-
tailed in this project book. It is generally found that this reduces problems during installation and reduces ongoing
risk due to EMC and other potential installation related issues. Take care when selecting required lengths of ca-
bles not to over order by too much, but if you do finish up with excess length then consider the following best prac-
tices:
-
Where possible, double back excessive lengths in the cable duct, taking care not to overfill ducts or com-
promise the general installation guidance of that or other cables e.g. mixing with low signal level cables,
compromising cable bending radiuses.
-
Where it’s necessary to coil the cable, keep the coil loose and as large as possible and locate as practi-
cally as possible (ie. not jammed between the inverter and its fixings, or next to other control equipment or
heat sources etc).
For more general installation details please refer to the specific product manuals and general EMC installation
Guidelines available via the following link.
EMC-Complaint installation Practice
Duty / Standby drive arrangements:
Standby drives are not normally required unless specifically asked for in the RFQ, however all drives should use
plugs and sockets to ensure the MTTR figure is as low as possible. On certain applications (e.g. Drop Sections),
duty/standby motor gearboxes are required, this will be stated in the RFQ

scope
This form is complementary to other documentation used in the purchase process of production equipment. The questionnarie covers questions regarding tooling, (cutting tools, tool holding and machining issues).
AIM
Together with the machine supplier and/ or cutting tool supplier, specify a specification for the tooling issues.
By working in this way, we want to take advantage of the suppliers and customer’s knowledge and experience, permit a dialogue on technical development and agree on a solution which provides operational reliability.
APPLICATION
The questionnaire shall be filled in by the supplier and returned together with the offer.
The questionnaire must have been approved by the customer and the supplier before any purchase.
Any additions or changes shall be approved by the customer and the supplier.
The questionnaire will be used as a check-list later on during the process of work.
HOW TO FILL IN QUESTIONNAIRE
Answer the questions by crossing the correct alternative, if further explanation is needed complete with text in the “note field”.
If there are questions that are non-applicable; leave the alternatives empty and mark the box to the right (N/A).

Context: BOM (BILL OF MATERIAL) Explanation:
simply all Excel part lists combined INTO ONE
Big, covering the complete Machine/Equipment.
This BOM list shall be delivered first at an early phase during design review together with
JT model and finally together with the documentation package. Se page 5
(2 mechanic documentation)
We use the BOM to prior your spare and wear part suggestion in an early phase. Later on
we also use it in our maintenance break down system. Drawings and parts are stored in
different systems at Aurobay/Volvo but the same structure is used.
This is one of the reasons why your work with the BOM is highly important.

2.1.2 How it works for the contractor
1. If the contracting company is not registered with SSG, it must be registered at
ssg.se/nyentreprenor. When registering, the contractor shall register the name of the
person at the company who will be acting as the administrator relating to SSG Entre.
2. The company will then be given access to the administration tool My SSG, where the

Context: 3.10 Mobile phones Mobile phones may only be used under safe conditions, for example, move off to the side and stand in a safe position. Machine operators and Crane operators may not use mobile phones while working. Private mobile phones may only be used on breaks. 3.11 Accessibility Materials and vehicles must be placed so that rescue and effective firefighting can be performed. This means that fire trucks have to be able to reach the scene of the accident without obstacles in the way. Similarly, fire hydrants and firefighting equipment must not be blocked. Vehicles and materials must be parked and placed in specified location. 3.12 Movement of heavy components When moving heavy components, the danger area must be cordoned off and the material must be secured against falling. If this is not possible, guard has to escort on the transport. 3.13 First aid Each contractor must provide their own first aid equipment. 3.14 De-icing The contractor must, unless otherwise agreed to, perform the required de-icing and snow removal to prevent accidents at their workplace. 3.15 Working at heights Working at heights means work where the difference in level is two meters or more. When working above two meters, personal fall protection equipment must be used. In the event that working at a height has been established to be necessary, the following hierarchy of controls must be implemented: 1. Use of a mobile elevating working platform/ boom / scissor lift 2. Use of a scaffold or platform/ tower +checklist 3. Use of stepladder/ladder Loose ladders should not be used. Always cordon off the area to avoid colliding with another vehicle and to avoid anyone being injured by falling objects. All employees and contractors that carry out work where the difference in level is two meters or more must be regularly trained for working at heights and for the use of fall protection. The contractor provides the necessary fall protection.

Context: 7. Environment 7.1 Waste All wastes must be included in Aurobay´s waste process. Residues and wastes must be disposed of according to Aurobay´s procedures and guidelines. Contractor must establish necessary demolition plan. Waste must be removed from the building as quickly as possible. In exceptional cases where the contractors are to dispose the waste themselves, the reporting must be done stating type of waste (EWC code), quantity, handling, receiver (processing code) to the environmental coordinator or local waste coordinator. This must then be agreed in the contract of assignment. This exception may not be applied to hazardous waste, see chapter 7.4) 7.2 Asbestos, refrigerant and PCB All demolition and dismantling work must always be preceded by an environmental assessment before work can commence. The demolition contractor must conduct environmental inventory. The contractor must ensure that harmful, hazardous substances are not present, such as asbestos. If harmful and / or hazardous substances are present, necessary measures must be taken in accordance with applicable legistlation. 7.3 Energy Reducing energy consumption is one of Aurobay´s environmental objectives. Everyone must actively strive to minimize the energy consumption. 7.4 Hazardous waste Hazardous waste must be handled in accordance with Aurobay´s procedures and guidelines. Aurobay must be the sender of hazardous waste. The contractor can never be the sender of hazardous waste generated within Aurobay´s facilities. 7.5 Land and water Before any work in soil or water is initiated, it must be ensured, via the client that necessary permits have been obtained, notifications are done and the required access rights are available. No work may be started before this has been clarified

Mathematically, this can be expressed as follows:
𝐶𝑚𝑘 = 𝑟ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑙𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑟𝑟 𝑙𝑒 𝑋̅ − 𝐿𝑆𝐿
3𝑟
𝑙𝑟 𝑈𝑆𝐿 − 𝑋̅
3𝑟
The standard deviation s shall be estimated with the following
formula:
𝑟 = √∑(𝑥𝑖 − 𝑋̅)2
𝑙 − 1
4.3.1.3
Test occasions
The test is carried out two times –in the Test before shipment and in
the Taking-over test after installation at the Aurobay/VCPC plant.
Approved results must be achieved before Shipment and Taking
over can take place.
4.3.2
Other quality characteristics
4.3.2.1
Demands
Normal cycle:
The processing has to be made with the correct procedure
according to specifications and agreements.
The parts that have been processed must not be damaged in any
way.
No alarms should occur as long as the processed parts are inside
specification.
Process alarms and monitoring functions:
All specified alarms and monitoring functions that are used to assure
the produced quality must be present and work when tested.
The checking of an executed operation has to be possible in direct
connection to the performed operation without disturbing
production. For example it has to be possible to check a core hole
diameter before it is thread formed even if it is formed in the same
operation. If one operation makes it impossible to check a previous
operation they should be separated in a way that makes it possible
to make sample checks of each operation otherwise built in
checking devices should be included.
4.3.2.2
Test method
Normal cycle:
If no other agreement is made the same production run as for
paragraph 4.3.1 is used for the test.
The equipment must work inside specified cycle time during the
test.

6 Training and Education
6.1 General
The supplier has to specify the training needed to run the
equipment.
Education and training material must be in the Local language.
The training has to be split in
‒
Maintenance staff (specified for both mechanical and
electrical)
‒
Operators
If possible, the training should be split up in three phases:
1.
Start-up Training
Training connected to Test before shipment
2. Main Training
Training connected to Taking-over test
3. Follow up Training
Follow up training 6 month after Job 1
The training should generally include:
‒
A description of the connection to existing systems and how
these are working together with the supply. (interaction)
‒
Explanation of the working principles
‒
Explanation of safety items and emergency stops etc.
‒
Demonstration and hands-on training on how to operate the
systems
‒
Presentation of sufficient equipment documentation
‒
Trouble shooting
‒
Demonstration and practice on how to maintain all supplied
systems.
6.2 Training categories
Basically the training should be adapted and addressed to the
following categories:
1.
Operators (handling of the systems and basic trouble
shooting, etc.)
2. Maintenance personal, see education for operators and then
advanced levels (advanced trouble shooting, change of
spare parts, repair work, scheduled maintenance, calibration
etc. including all mechanical, electrical and computer parts
of the systems).
3. Supervisors (understand the working principles and
possibilities, overview and general description of the supply)
4. Specialist training if identified and needed.

Context: Special functions
General
Host computer communication
1) All telegrams that are sent to the host computer gets an answer that the telegram is received. The workpiece must not be released before the answer telegram is received. Time-out alarm is to be generated if the telegram not is received within a reasonable time.
2) Operation result telegram is sent in all machines to the host computer.
3) Control of previous operation: The host computer decides whether the workpiece is ok or not ok to run in actual machine. If the workpiece is not ok to run in the machine, an alarm is to be generated.
4) Workpiece blocked: If a workpiece is blocked in the host computer, it will be transported from the input place directly to a dedicated place.
5) For set-up and test runs the host computer communication must be possible to exclude. No telegrams are sent, and answer telegrams are not awaited. Alarms from the host computer are ignored when the communication is excluded.
6) There must be a manual function to send a test telegram to Host computer. The function is to verify a correct working communication. The result of the test shall be viewed in HMI.
Emergency location
To empty grippers in case of need there shall be an emergency location in the equipment and a function to order the grippers to this position. This function must be possible to execute even if the status of the gripper is missing.
The function must be performed with reduced speed.
The emergency location shall have a sensor for control of workpiece present.
Selection and start of emergency location is done in HMI. The movement must stop if the button is released.
Test-programs
Test program shall be present for each axis with position feedback. The axis shall move from end-position to end-position continuously with highest automatic speed. Equipment shall be empty and in initial position, other necessary conditions must be fulfilled automatically when the selected test program is started.
Selection and start of test program is done in HMI. Look and functionality must be like a manual movement. Function is interrupted when stop is pressed and then stops in initial position.
Service positions
NC-axis shall be provided with a function to order them to a service position e.g. oil control, inspections etc. Equipment shall be in initial position, other necessary conditions must be fulfilled automatically when the selected service position is started.
The amount of service positions must be adapted to the equipment’s need of maintenance. One of the positions shall be fixed for the equipment’s reference position.
For a robot there must be, in addition to above requirements, super initial position (forced run in low speed), synch position and SafeMove synch position.
Selection and start of service position is done in HMI, look and functionality as a manual movement.
Retry in automatic cycle
The machine repeats movements or sub-cycles e.g. clamping, tightening, reading of workpiece ID etc. a pre-set number

Guidelines
1) Generally, applies that quiet colours are to be used for ‘dead’ information and bright colours for important information. Grey range of colours for static information. Red colour is strictly for alarms. Light grey background colour is better than white. The use of colours has to be consistent. When colour code/symbols are used there must be an explaining legend.
2) The current alarm and warnings are to be shown in all screens.
3) All pressing of buttons has to be clearly acknowledged. Button, who cannot be selected, has to be dimmed.
4) The screen of the equipment has to be correctly orientated with respect to the position of the screen compared to the equipment.
5) If a function key has the same function in more than one screen, the position of this function key shall keep its place in all screens where it is used.
6) It shall be possible to change operating mode independent of current screen. It shall be possible to display all screens independent of current operating mode.
7) Pictures that require shall be provided with some kind of help such as explaining text or shortcut to help function.
8) The change of screens may not exceed 2 seconds.
Operator guidance
In case of attempts to input illegal data, select unavailable function, start unfeasible manual movement etc. an explaining text shall be displayed.
Screen saver
The HMI shall be provided with a screen saver function. The time for activation shall be 5 minutes.
The screen shall be activated once a key is pressed.
Keys pressed when the screen is off may have no other effect than switching on the screen.
Password
Certain functions shall be protected with password. The use of password has to be agreed upon between Aurobay and supplier.
Password must be reset when the screensaver is activated.
Lamp test
There shall be a lamp test function for lamps in the equipment. The lamp test shall be off-delayed for approx. 20 seconds.
Language selection
All HMI-screens shall be operator changeable between the supplier’s language and customer language. When Swedish is used letters å, ä and ö must be used.
HMI-header
All HMI-screens shall contain one and the same HMI-header. The header shall contain at least operating mode, operation/station number and date/time.

Interaction points
Interaction between the equipment and MES shall be performed at several places in the line. The
following figure shows examples of locations where communication may occur, e.g., processing
equipment, assembly equipment, transportation equipment and buffers.
Communication is mostly bi-directional where messages are acknowledged to make sure the
information is received by the other party.
The figure below describes a common interaction scenario for an automatic equipment.

Section 6: FR 5 - Restricted Data Flow (Network Architecture)
| | Rationale: Network segmentation is used by organisations for a variety of purposes, including cyber security. The main reasons for segmenting networks are to reduce the exposure, or ingress, of network | |
| |traffic into a System and reduce the spread, or egress, of network traffic from a System. Aurobay | |
| -------- | -------- | -------- |
| | Operational Technology (OT) Systems and networks should be segmented and segregated from Aurobay | |
| |IT-business networks, WAN environments and external solutions using firewall technology. | |
a) SR 5.1 - The System shall provide the capability to logically segment OT-System networks from non-OT-System
networks and to logically segment OT-System networks from other OT-System networks.
i. The System integrator shall together with the Asset Owner and Product Supplier determine if the System
shall be part of an already existing network Zone, or if a new network Zone is to be created.
ii. Network Zone and segmentation criteria shall be determined by the Product Supplier or System integrator
and Asset Owner. The decisions shall be documented in the technical project specification with minimum
areas covered:
•
System IP address - The System (network) should have an IP-address range assigned or approved by
Aurobay ensuring that the network segment is routable allowing Aurobay to align the System with the
overall network architecture of Aurobay and the manufacturing site.
•
Integrations – To secure integrations between the System zone and other network Zones the System
Integrator shall specify any (ingress and/or egress) integrations needed across the System network
Zone boundary (such as, remote access, update services and MES integrations).
b) Aurobay’s managed remote access should always be evaluated as remote access method before considering a
Product Supplier’s or System integrator’s remote access method. Any third party, Product Supplier or System
integrator solution (not Aurobay standard) must be reviewed by Aurobay before implementation.
c) If the System is installed in an air-gaped network (without any connections to other networks Zones) the System
integrator or Product Supplier shall verify the physical isolation during site acceptance test.
d) SR 5.2 - The System shall provide the capability to monitor and control communications at Zone boundaries to
enforce the compartmentalization defined in the risk-based Zones and conduits model in IEC62443.
i. All boundaries implemented with firewall technology between the System network Zone and Aurobay IT-
business networks and oth

Scope and field of application
This description covers components production at:
Aurobay plants in Skövde - Sweden and in Zhangjiakou - China
Volvo Cars Propulsion Components (VCPC) in Skövde – Sweden
Following is intended for layouts of machine lines and production equipment in Aurobay/VCPC production sites. Any deviations from this document shall require approval by Aurobay/VCPC
General Requirements
AutoCAD Version
Files shall be saved in the latest released file format and only native AutoCAD objects shall be used.
Language Requirement
All text shall be written in English, including layer titles. No other language is accepted.
Units, Scale and Coordinate System,
Only layout files handed over by Aurobay/VCPC engineers may be used. This will ensure that the layout drawings are designed in mm and use of the respective sites coordinate system. Scaling is not allowed, scale 1:1 must be used.
2D Factory Layouts
The coordinate system in the Layout Drawings is the same as in the *Plant Alignment and the 3D Plant Scan Data. This means that the same specific coordinate can be located in all these three environments, with high accuracy.
It enables easy use of 3D Scan Data in combination with the layouts, just insert the scan data to 0,0.
It also makes set out work of equipment installations on shopfloor easy and highly accurate by use of the *Plant Alignment Reference System.
*Plant Alignment: A method and a physical reference system implemented in the shops.
Coordinates of surveyed referencesSurveyed reference----media/image1.png----
1) Reference System coordinates are loaded into the Total Station instrument.
2) The Total Station triangulates to some prisms attached to the references to find its position in the Reference System.
3) The Total Station is now ready to point out any wanted WCS coordinate from the layout drawing so the equipment can be positioned on shopfloor accordingly.
Some layouts are in a 15-degree angle. Use the predefined UCS to rotate to perpendicular.
All objects Z coordinate values must be Z=0 (zero).
Below example is a horizontal view of a layout with a lot of objects that are not on Z=0.
----media/image2.jpeg----
Use of Xrefs (External References)
Aurobay/VCPC layouts consist of several linked files, so called xrefs (external references). You most often will receive a file package (zip) from Aurobay/VCPC.
Only the specified files shall be edited.
Keep the xrefs as linked files. DO NOT bind the xrefs into the layout and DO NOT explode binded xrefs.
The xrefs are always inserted to WCS 0,0 and rotation = 0.
Use of layers
Use the Aurobay/VCPC Layer

•
Simple lifting tool for material handling/tool equipment/material boxes/“small boxes”
•
Location of tool parking/storage for easy and ergonomic access
•
Spaces for materials/tools/equipment shall be clearly marked, for example with painted lines,
mark-outs, etc.
•
Correctly located and dimensioned containers for collection of waste material (waste separation)
•
Hoses/lines shall be removed from the floor; hoses and lines that are lightweight, soft, and with
a suitable suspension system shall be chosen.
Floors, walls, and ceilings
Floors shall be firm and stable and shall have a resilience that is appropriate for the activity at hand. When
work is carried out in a standing position, mats/wooden flooring shall be used in order to improve comfort and
prevent problems for feet and legs.
Floor hardness and colour shall be chosen with due consideration to ease of cleaning/maintenance.
Floors may not have dangerous or unsuitable bumps, holes or slopes.
The room’s colour scheme shall be taken into consideration to increase comfort in the workplace.
Windows, doors, and gates
A separate door for pedestrians shall be available near gates/roller doors intended for vehicle traffic.
Windows and skylights shall, where necessary, have devices or be of a design that permits shading of direct
sunlight.

Context: 2.1 Equipment reliability requirements
General reliability requirements
To ensure reliable & robust equipment, the supplier shall in the design phase present a risk analysis (e.g. FMEA or RCM study) for all key processes. The component selection shall comply with the following minimum design criteria:
-- The equipment shall be designed to comply with the lifetime and working requirements specified in the contract, ensuring an optimal life-cycle cost.
-- The equipment shall be designed to endure the environment in which it is operated and the intended process. See the detailed description in the contract appendices.
-- A maintenance program shall be submitted in order to comply with the reliability criteria specified in the contract.
-- For reasons of maintainability, the design must also ensure that components will be available on the market during a minimum period of 10 years, starting from job1.
The requirements are specified in the KPI matrix in Contract Appendix B.
Verification is carried out in different steps according to the contractual test procedures described in Contract Appendix F.
Technical Availability
A = (T-Td)/T*100
T = total operating time
Td= total downtime during period T (caused by disturbances in supplied equipment).
This assumes that spare parts and manpower are 100 percent available with no delays.
This excludes logistics time, waiting or administrative downtime, and scheduled downtime for planned
maintenance. It includes downtime for corrective maintenance.
The equipment’s Technical Availability requirements shall be agreed as part of Contract Appendix B. Technical Availability shall be measured during a time period that shall be agreed as part of Contract Appendix B.
When Technical Availability is specified per line or cell, the supplier must be able to specify the Technical Availability per piece of equipment.
MCBF
Equipment reliability is measured in MCBF (Mean Cycles Between Failures). MCBF = C/F C = total number of cycles run during the verification period
F = total number of failures* during the verification period
* Failures as defined in Contract Appendix B.
MCBF must be measured during the verification period or number of cycles that shall be agreed as part of Contract Appendix B.
During the verification period, equipment reliability shall be verified against the MCBF target specified in the contractual scope of supply, as described in Contract Appendix B.
2.2 Maintainability requirements
Definitions
Equipment maintainability is measured in Max Component Replace Time.
Max Component Replace Time is the time that is required to replace a defective component and bring the unit operational again.
----media/image2.jpeg----
The complete failure time (= ONE failure) includes:
WT: Waiting Time before technician is on site, before spare part is on site, etc. Notification time: Elapsed time before a problem is perceived by production operator
TTR: Time to Repair
Diagnose
